Diablo, the Lord of Terror Returns

in general by Raquel on Monday, June 30th, 2008 @ 9:54 am

I was Internet-less during the weekend, but managed to know that Blizzard’s ongoing splash screen announcement was indeed Diablo 3, just as I thought. I hadn’t been able to post anything about this yet, so here goes my general feeling toward this: Hell, YES! \o/

I loved the two previous Diablo games and can’t wait to kick some more Diablo ass. The release date hasn’t been disclosed yet, but I guess at least another year is to be expected. There’s some info on the official Diablo III site, as well as screenshots, artwork images, a cinematic trailer and a gameplay trailer which looks nifty.

Two classes out of a total of five have been announced - Witch Doctor and Barbarian. A novelty in this game, regarding what was present in previous Diablo games, is that all of the five classes will allow the choice of a male or female character. No matter how brilliant the previous Diablo games were, that was always a flaw - when you chose your class, you were always stuck with the gender that was assigned to it. I was lucky because the classes I wanted to play were usually female - Rogue in the first game, Sorcerer and Assassin on the second.

Anyway, I can’t wait to play this. And I feel the urge to play Diablo II again.

Weekend Ahead

in general by Raquel on Friday, June 27th, 2008 @ 12:02 am

The weekend is almost here and mine will consist of going off somewhere with some friends for a birthday celebration and:

  • Eat tons of charcoal roasted sardines (love them!) / cherry peppers / other yummy stuff. Nom nom nom!
  • Birthday gift-giving to someone special, who I’m hoping likes the gifts. :D
  • Reading. In the morning I’m usually one of the first people up from bed and it’s the perfect quiet time to read.
  • Photo-taking. Yes, more photos.

Maybes:

  • Play role-playing games. Vampire the Masquerade is the most likely candidate
  • Attempts at archery
  • Walking on the beach

Then I’ll return exhausted and will finally be able to play some Grand Theft Auto IV. I hope. :P

Grand Theft Awesome IV

My friend José sent me a tip about Grand Theft Awesome IV. It’s a parody about Grand Theft Auto IV, if you hadn’t already figured it out. Hilarious even though I haven’t played GTA4. Only next week. Seems that the same guy who made the video has a series of other videos one can check out here.

Look at the (Pretty?) Pictures

So yeah, I could not resist and ended up going for a pro account over at Flickr. I’ve uploaded a few of my photos and will do so with more along the way.

I foresee posting more photos here (and there) in the future. And more picture-taking on my account. Plus some experimental photo manipulation of the photos I take.

Oh, ‘bonus feature’: if you know me (in real life, I mean) you can register at Flickr and ask me to add you as a friend to have access to more photos - the ones in my private stash (no, not pr0n, you pervs! :P ).

Rebuild of Evangelion: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE

in general by Raquel on Sunday, June 22nd, 2008 @ 11:41 am

Over ten years ago I watched the first episode of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, and was instantly hooked. Gainax, the studio responsible for the series and the movies recently decided to make Rebuild of Evangelion, which constitutes of four movies. The first two are going to retell the story of the series, the third will retell the movie ‘The End of Evangelion’ and the fourth and final movie will be a more definitive ending to the story.

Yesterday I watched the first movie, YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE, and I loved it. I had refrained from watching the anime again so the good memories I had of it would not be ruined - I’ve watched episodes of shows I used to love as a kid, and ended up being very disappointed. Rebuild of Evangelion is the perfect chance to (sort of) rewatch Eva, and avoid the possibility of disappointment. Not only because the animation is improved, but because Gainax managed to get most of the original Evangelion cast back, and this makes Rebuild not a simple ‘milking the cow’ kind of thing. Oh and even though you may remember the show, you’ll still get a couple of surprises in the movie, especially the end (spoilers for the rest of the sentence), where Kaworu Nagisa appears *squee*.

I’ll stop yapping now and leave you with a short video clip with scenes of the movie, which contains one of the new music themes made for Rebuild of Evangelion - Angel of Doom. Lyrics after the cut. And no, I’m not turning this into a weblog where I post the best lyrics EVAR!!!11 - these are short and capture the sense of impending doom you feel throughout the show.

Photos and Flickr

in general by Raquel on Friday, June 20th, 2008 @ 6:12 pm

I’m really fancying the idea of upgrading to a pro Flickr account. I’ve been having a growing urge to take and show photos. I’d consider Google’s Picasa, which is pretty decent, but it doesn’t allow the multitude of privacy settings Flickr does.

Since I only intend to share the photos me or my friends are visible at with people I actually know in real life and at the same time share other photos with everyone, Flickr is the way to go.

Stay tuned.
