Wuzzaaa…
So today is the big quarter final match between Portugal and Germany in the European football championship. Go, go Portugal! The bus I take to work was late today and I ended up getting another bus instead, so I got to work a few minutes late. Luckily, since I stayed here late the other day, I don’t have to make up the time, because I want to get home in time for the game.
What have I been doing these days? My vacations included moving stuff to my new house, and having to stop midway since I had nowhere to put all my books on. So moving is yet again paused until I can have one of the big old closets there removed (I’ll be giving it away to a neighbour who probably wants it) so I have enough space for another bookshelf there. I already filled one entire bookshelf and I haven’t got even half my books there.
Speaking of which, one of my favourite authors will be coming to Portugal soon. He’ll make three appearences in Lisbon between the 1st of July and the 5th. I’m considering going to all three. Unfortunately I haven’t managed to get my hands on any hardcover versions of any of his novels, so I guess I’m stuck with taking my paperbacks for him to sign. I hope he doesn’t mind signing all the novels I have of his. Also, I’ll have to avoid squeaking like a silly fangirl when I talk to him. Articulating words is a must when you’re asking for an autograph and telling someone how much you appreciate their work.
Meantime, today I got a text message from one of my exes, just saying ‘hi’ and sending kisses. I guess I should do the same to my other ex, just to know if they’re alive. Something along the lines of ‘ohai! how are ya? all good? just poking you to know if you’re alive. kisses.’. I don’t think it’s an awkward thing to do - it’s natural to keep caring for them, as we remained friends.
Anyway, let’s talk about my vacations: I went to Gibraltar, and on my way there I briefly visited Sevilla, where sadly I only managed to visit the cathedral, and have a snack over at Starbucks. The cathedral is absolutely beautiful, architectonically speaking - I don’t really care for the religious aspects, and I had no idea that Colombus was buried there so seeing his mausoleum was a surprise. What little I saw of Sevilla made me want to go back some time. I took a ton of photos and am hoping to set up a gallery with them over the next weekend. It was tricky to get decent photos inside the cathedral, since you can’t use flash in there, but I still managed to get a few okay ones. In Gibraltar I also took a zillion photos, and managed to see all of the points of interest since it’s really small. My only regret was not being in the South of Spain (our hotel was in Spain, because it was much cheaper than staying in a hotel in Gibraltar itself) an extra day so we could take a one day trip to Morocco, which would elevate my number of visited continents to a whooping total of two. Maybe next time.
This trip made me want to visit more of Spain and of Portugal. I’ve been wanting to revisit Madrid for a while now - I already went there but when I was very young and I don’t remember much. I’ve also been wanting to visit Barcelona for ages now - a trip which must include a visit to the Barça football stadium. Very few teams make me want to watch football matches, but Barcelona, when Bobby Robson was the team manager there, was frakking amazing. A lot of their matches were thrilling, and the single best football match I have ever seen until today was a Barça vs Atlético Madrid. I never support football clubs since in my view it’s silly to blindly support a very mutable group of people. Does it make sense to support a club when most the time there are retards running it and playing? Not to me. In fact, even Portugal’s national football team lost my support when some idiot players decided to do stuff like punch referees. This was especially bad when they knew that their actions were representing the whole country in international eyes. Thus, I support specific teams and Barcelona when Robson, Figo, Ronaldo, Pizzi and the rest of that gang were there was simply brilliant. ( Wow I almost wrote a whole paragraph about football! I must be sick or something. )
The good part about visiting the Iberic Peninsula more is that not only does it end up being more affordable than going to other places since it’s closer, but there’s just so much to see here. Oh, and when I said in guild chat that I’d been to Spain, one of our priests said to tell her something if we’re ever going to the general area of Barcelona (where she lives) so we can meet up. That would be a bonus since she’s one of the nicest people I’ve met in WoW (and now AoC).
Right now I’m looking at the TV right next to my computer where the match preparations are being shown. Fingers crossed for us winning. Cya later.
