Wuzzaaa…

So today is the big quarter final match between Portugal and Germany in the European football championship. Go, go Portugal! The bus I take to work was late today and I ended up getting another bus instead, so I got to work a few minutes late. Luckily, since I stayed here late the other day, I don’t have to make up the time, because I want to get home in time for the game.

What have I been doing these days? My vacations included moving stuff to my new house, and having to stop midway since I had nowhere to put all my books on. So moving is yet again paused until I can have one of the big old closets there removed (I’ll be giving it away to a neighbour who probably wants it) so I have enough space for another bookshelf there. I already filled one entire bookshelf and I haven’t got even half my books there.

Speaking of which, one of my favourite authors will be coming to Portugal soon. He’ll make three appearences in Lisbon between the 1st of July and the 5th. I’m considering going to all three. Unfortunately I haven’t managed to get my hands on any hardcover versions of any of his novels, so I guess I’m stuck with taking my paperbacks for him to sign. I hope he doesn’t mind signing all the novels I have of his. Also, I’ll have to avoid squeaking like a silly fangirl when I talk to him. Articulating words is a must when you’re asking for an autograph and telling someone how much you appreciate their work.

Meantime, today I got a text message from one of my exes, just saying ‘hi’ and sending kisses. I guess I should do the same to my other ex, just to know if they’re alive. Something along the lines of ‘ohai! how are ya? all good? just poking you to know if you’re alive. kisses.’. I don’t think it’s an awkward thing to do - it’s natural to keep caring for them, as we remained friends.

Anyway, let’s talk about my vacations: I went to Gibraltar, and on my way there I briefly visited Sevilla, where sadly I only managed to visit the cathedral, and have a snack over at Starbucks. The cathedral is absolutely beautiful, architectonically speaking - I don’t really care for the religious aspects, and I had no idea that Colombus was buried there so seeing his mausoleum was a surprise. What little I saw of Sevilla made me want to go back some time. I took a ton of photos and am hoping to set up a gallery with them over the next weekend. It was tricky to get decent photos inside the cathedral, since you can’t use flash in there, but I still managed to get a few okay ones. In Gibraltar I also took a zillion photos, and managed to see all of the points of interest since it’s really small. My only regret was not being in the South of Spain (our hotel was in Spain, because it was much cheaper than staying in a hotel in Gibraltar itself) an extra day so we could take a one day trip to Morocco, which would elevate my number of visited continents to a whooping total of two. Maybe next time.

This trip made me want to visit more of Spain and of Portugal. I’ve been wanting to revisit Madrid for a while now - I already went there but when I was very young and I don’t remember much. I’ve also been wanting to visit Barcelona for ages now - a trip which must include a visit to the Barça football stadium. Very few teams make me want to watch football matches, but Barcelona, when Bobby Robson was the team manager there, was frakking amazing. A lot of their matches were thrilling, and the single best football match I have ever seen until today was a Barça vs Atlético Madrid. I never support football clubs since in my view it’s silly to blindly support a very mutable group of people. Does it make sense to support a club when most the time there are retards running it and playing? Not to me. In fact, even Portugal’s national football team lost my support when some idiot players decided to do stuff like punch referees. This was especially bad when they knew that their actions were representing the whole country in international eyes. Thus, I support specific teams and Barcelona when Robson, Figo, Ronaldo, Pizzi and the rest of that gang were there was simply brilliant. ( Wow I almost wrote a whole paragraph about football! I must be sick or something. )

The good part about visiting the Iberic Peninsula more is that not only does it end up being more affordable than going to other places since it’s closer, but there’s just so much to see here. Oh, and when I said in guild chat that I’d been to Spain, one of our priests said to tell her something if we’re ever going to the general area of Barcelona (where she lives) so we can meet up. That would be a bonus since she’s one of the nicest people I’ve met in WoW (and now AoC).

Right now I’m looking at the TV right next to my computer where the match preparations are being shown. Fingers crossed for us winning. Cya later.

Have an old Nintendo DS just getting dust on some closet? Here’s some uses you can give your old DS.

Speaking of portable consoles, Sony admited that maybe, just maybe, piracy increases their Sony PSP hardware sales. O’Rly?

Julius Ceasar attacks the darkness and rolls a 20! Okay maybe not, but someone found this artifact rather similar to a d20, which dates from around the 2nd century A.D. I’m betting Brutus played a Rogue.

Rockin’ Stormtrooper in Tokyo

Danny Choo, famous for dressing up with a full Stormtrooper armor suit and hitting the streets of Tokyo, has decided to take on of his usual Stormtrooper in Tokyo strolls, this time carrying a guitar.

Here I am, amused and wishing I had the sort of time, money (and a touch more craziness) to be able to do something similar. Heh.

Sombreros, Arriba!

Back from a dinner party with some friends. Food, drinks, games and incriminating photos with sombreros were involved.

I’m beat. Goin’ to bed.

Oh, and today is the first day of my first vacations in almost a year. Woot.

Samantha is Back!

Yeah, yeah, everyone is talking about Carrie Bradshaw’s come back in the Sex and the City movie, but really, who I want to see the most is Samantha Jones. Funniest character in the show, hands down.

Samantha is back, oh yeah! 8D

Death Note’s Ryūku Live Action

in general by Raquel on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 @ 12:48 pm

I was seriously impressed when I saw this image of the live action movie based on the manga ‘Death Note’. What’s impressive? The way Ryūku (the original shinigami in the manga) looks exactly the same as the manga version. Exactly the same.

If you want to compare them, here’s a couple of images over at TOKYOMANGO that include him (in case you’re wondering who he is here’s a tip: he’s the funky looking demon floating in the air). anyway check out the images in this post and this one. Then compare him with this image here.

Slightly disappointing was L not looking even half as crazed as he should in the movie’s poster. Maybe in the movie itself it’s different.

What the Hell?

in general by Raquel on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 @ 9:39 am

So I get to work and realize my closet’s door isn’t opening. After several attempts I finally manage to get it open, but in the process I discover that mysteriously the lower part of the door isn’t attached to where it’s supposed to be. It’s one of those ‘roll to the side’ kind of doors and the lower wheels for some obscure reason weren’t in place. Since I’m fairly certain that I didn’t decide to take them out for a walk, and since doors sure as Hell don’t detach themselves on their own (if they do, I’m callin’ Ghostbusters right now!), I think someone tried to break into my closet while I wasn’t here.

The reason why I’m thinking this is that I’d noticed a couple of times before that my lock seemed to have been forced (it was hard to open the lock using the key all of the sudden). That was just me being paranoid, I thought at the time, but this door thing was pretty obvious. I must say this is the least discreet burglar of all time.

Anyway, I’m wondering what the heck they want from my closet. There’s no money or valuables there. Also, no porn. Sorry mister pervert burglar. :( Unless someone is really craving for some crackers or bottled water (those I actually have in there) I really fail to see the point of trying to break in there.

Maybe I should put a mild electrified field on the closet (it’s made of metal), so they’d get a little zap whenever they tried. *starts plotting evilly*

Boob Jobs in Age of Conan

in general by Raquel on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 @ 11:36 am

Those of you who play Age of Conan have surely noticed how huge the boobs of pretty much every single female NPC are. Last night I logged in after patching my AoC client, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the females in the game actually looked normal instead of over-inflated versions of Pamela Anderson.

Turns out, the ‘deflated’ breasts were a bug caused by the latest patch:

Greetings,

Funcom can confirm that some of the female models in the game have had the size of their breasts changed . This is due to an unintended change in data that was introduced in an earlier patch, data which controls the so-called morph values associated with character models and the size of their respective body parts. We are working on a fix for this and your breasts should be back to normal soon. The plastic surgeons of Hyboria apologize for the inconvenience.

So they’re gonna ‘fix’ it back to normal. *rolls eyes*

Anyone else thinks this is a way for Funcom to have some extra, free coverage of their new baby MMO? Everyone knows that males love boob talk and they do want to keep the male gamers coming into the game (no pun intended, heh).
