The 2009 Resolutions That Were
by Raquel @ Sunday, December 27 2009, in general
This January, I made a list of what I wanted to do in 2009.
To save you the work of clicking, I’ll repeat it here, and bold what I did achieve:
So what do I want to do in 2009?
- Throw a heck of a wedding party and have a nice honeymoon, wherever it ends up being – it was a lot of work, but it was pretty cool. Geeky wedding, just as it should be. I know I haven’t actually posted any photos of my geek wedding here, but I hope to eventually stop being lazy and do it.
- Have fun in whatever new project I get put on at work – Hum… yeah… let’s move on.
- Read more books and comics – in the last few months I’ve been reading more. Not as much as I liked, but more nonetheless.
- Feel more confident about myself – It’s going to be a long process.
- Organize house stuff and finish decorating – yeah, this is an ongoing thing. I’ve realized the decoration will never be complete. There’s always something to do or change.
- Play more, different video games - I did. Let go of World of Warcraft due to boredom (and DORAMA!™), and played games like The Sims 3 (which I bought an original of in Thailand for 10 euros or something silly like that), Torchlight, Dragon Age: Origins, Batman: Arkham Asylum and so forth.
- Watch more TV shows and animes – TV shows, yep. We follow Fringe, House, Bones, Merlin, V, and some others
- Spend more time with my loved ones – Yes and no. Things changed regarding people, not all , but some. I ended up stepping away because of some less correct behaviours. On the bright side, I feel I’ve come somewhat closer to some friends which I talked less to, and also closer to my grandmother, since my grandfather died. Due to several complications I couldn’t go visit her very often before that, and now I can, and intend to go there from time to time.
- Travel - Definitely. Thailand was our honeymoon destination, and a quick stop by Amsterdam were our outside-of-Portugal destinations this year. Within Portugal, we went to beautiful Santa Clara-A-Velha, Porto, Santa Maria da Feira, Óbidos, and Mafra.
- Stress less about, oh, everything – I’ve began stressing less about a few things, but still get extremely stressed in several occasions.
- Draw more and better – Nope. I haven’t used my drawing board decently in a long, long time. I think it’s going to be one of those resolutions which I’ll have every year because I didn’t achieve it the year before.
Overall it was a positive year, because not only did I achieve most of the relosolutions I made, I also started practicing two martial arts, which is a two-in-one achievement. First, because I’m excercising regularly, and second, because I’ve always wanted to practice martial arts, and am enjoying the experience a whole lot.

Sounds like you accomplished a lot! with most lists I make I rarely manage to get past point 1 (”Get a job”). Here’s hoping next year goes as well to you o/
