Non-Geek Post

It’s sort of off topic of what I usually write there, but I need to comment something here about recent news about the Pope, the Vatican and the covering up of several hundred cases of pedophilia, because otherwise my head will explode in rage.

The Pope is coming to Portugal in less than two months, and all I see here is catholic sheep disregarding the fact that their supposed spiritual leader has not only not taken firm action against clergy members who have abused children, but has apparently (according to recent news) covered up the abuse of over 200 kids, while he was still a Bishop.

How in the World can one follow a leader like that? Don’t catholics have a critical mind on some matters? A mind of their own? Don’t they have judgement? Don’t they distinguish between good and evil?

Seriously, how can people follow a man, adore a man, who helped people who sexually abused children, instead of making sure their horrible crimes were judged (link in Portuguese)?

I hate knowing that the size of the procession that will follow the Pope around my country won’t diminish due to this. The only people who have the right to forgive that… creature for covering up such abuses are the kids who suffered through them, not these mindless sheep who will go there, and pray with him, and follow him everywhere, regardless of him helping something clearly evil.

Would catholics dare not showing up, sending him a message of dissapproval? Of course not! That would implicate thinking for themselves.

All those blind followers make me sick.
