About
I’m Raquel, a software developer from Portugal. I have a university degree and a post graduation in Computer Engineering. My professional interests focus mostly on usability, user interfaces, and computer graphics and animation.
In my free time, when I’m not with friends and family, I enjoy good stories. I don’t really care in which medium they’re told: books, comic books, manga, movies, TV series, anime, computer games… anything really. I also spend part of my own time drawing, writing, and taking photos.
I’m gonna copycat José on this part:
10 random things about me (okay 9, as I ran out of ideas)
1. For several years I always carried a small notebook with me for drawing whatever came to mind. Recently, I decided to start doing it again, but so far only part of the time.
2. Of all the people I know in real life, the one I most admire is my grandmother, who survived a war when she was very young.
3. I like a wide range of music types, especially mixes between ‘different ends of music’ like symphonic orchestra music mixed with Metal mixed with electronic music, and I absolutely love good female opera voices.
4. I’d like to make an extensive visit to Japan someday. I’d also like to go to Holland and to visit the UK again. I just loved the huge bookstores in London, and I’d like to revisit Picadilly.
5. In computer and console roleplaying games I usually play a Paladin because I like ‘helping the helpless’, however I can’t be arsed playing them in actual D&D sessions (the ones with dices and paper) as they annoy me.
6. I can’t stand being in large crowds for too long unless I’m at a good concert or something. I feel especially crappy if I have to wear a formal outfit and make small talk with everyone around me for extended periods of time. I’m the World’s worst small talker.
7. In TV shows, movies, books and such I never like the main character the best. I always end up having a secondary but important character as a favourite. I’m also a sucker for heroes fallen into darkness (Hi Willow! Hi Anakin!). Corny, I know.
8. Last time I counted, I owned over 200 books (excluding comic books). I’ve read most of them. I also used to pay constant visits to a library across the street when I was younger.
9. I am sort of a nomad. I don’t remember what it’s like to live in just one house.
